Roma Framework and Sun Microsystems - The
AssetData's partners
ROMULUS
Roma is an Open
Source project to simplify the development of Java
applications. The approach is totally DDD,
let's think to your application domain
and Roma will think to all the rest: persistence (database),
presentation (HTML + Ajax), logging, user management, sessions,
scheduler, workflow, etc.
Asset Data is
member of Sun Partner Advantage program.

2/3 of the presentation will be devoted to live coding demonstration of writing basic MapReduce application in Scala using GridGain middleware. All coding during demonstration will be done live. Overview of grid and cloud computing concepts as well as notion of Native Cloud Applications will be discussed. Short intro into Scala language will also be provided.
What problems/challenges will an attendee learn to solve by attending your session?
Attendee will learn how to use Scala one of the most exciting JVM-based languages to quickly and efficiently build cloud-enabled applications. They will also learn on how to quickly build simple MapReduce application using GridGain framework.
What will attendees learn by attending your session?
Attendees will learn:
How to build and run simple Scala MapReduce application
How to cloud-enable the existing Scala code using GridGain to run it on the cloud
Who should attend your session?
Java developers with a proficient level of Java expertise
Scala developers of all levels
Developers interested in practical aspects of cloud computing
What basics should attendees know before attending your session?
Working knowledge of Java
Basic understanding of distributed programming concepts
No Scala or cloud computing experience is required
About 1/3 of the presentation will be devoted to overview of grid and cloud computing as well as crash-course into Scala programming language. 2/3 of the presentation will be devoted to a live, hands-on coding demonstration of building simple MapReduce applications in Scala using GridGain.
Asset Data will host the next JUG Roma meeting. The appointment is for September 23rd 2010 6:00 pm in Asset Data o live here.
NoSQL Summer event in streaming

Romulus meeting in Rome
On January 22nd and 23rd 2009 the Romulus consortium came to Rome to get the point about the first year of research and to consolidate the planned activities for the current year. A lot of news since the last meeting in Galway, Ireland.
Asset Data presented the news about Roma Meta Framework version 1.1.1 released just few hours before the event.
Moreover Asset Data has presented for the first time the CorneliusProject Management Open Source software. This project was born in Asset Data about 6 months ago and now it's the management tool of the entire Asset Management group.
Asset Data gets into the Romulus consortium
Asset Data gets into the Romulus consortium. Romulus is a project partially financed by European Commission. Its main goal is about research on novel methods for increasing productivity and reliability of web software development, in particularly, focused on Java web development.
On Friday June 15th 2007 there will be the first AssetData Go-Kart contest, where all employees and consultants of Asset Data and Asset Management group will challenge on the road.
We think a little bit of sane competition on the road would improve also the reflexes on writing down code :-)
